Wireless Broadband at the Parish Hall
Following negotiations with the Copythorne Parish Hall Management Committee, the Parish Council has recently installed wireless broadband facilities in the Parish Hall at Pollards Moor Road. In particular, this will help the Council in its consultative role on planning applications but will also be useful in carrying out other functions.
The aim also is to provide a general community facility and give access to wireless broadband to bone fide users of the Parish Hall. If any organisations who regularly use the hall would be interested in using the facility, would they please contact the Clerk to the Council for further details.
Parish Council website
The Parish Council has decided to change the hosting arrangements for its website. Hopefully, this will provide greater scope for redesigning the site, publishing useful local information and providing facilities to interact with the local community. Discussions are now taking place with a new company and a further update will appear in the next news article. In the meantime, the Council's current site can be found at www.copythorne.gov.uk.
Hampshire Air Ambulance - over 1700 missions and counting
The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance needs £3000 a day to keep its helicopter and highly trained crew in the air. As a charity, the service relies solely on the generosity of individuals and organisations to help it continue its life-saving work. Airborne within three minutes of a 999 call, the Air Ambulance can reach most of its operational area within fifteen minutes. It needs an area only half the size of a tennis court to be able to land. It can transport patients to the appropriate hospital for their needs - being able to do this will make the difference between life and death for many patients.
You can help this vital service and raise money for charity by recycling your unwanted mobile phones. It is easy to recycle your phone - jut place it in an envelope and send by Freepost to Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance, Freepost London 16281, London, WC1N 3BR - no stamps needed!. Each recycled phone has a value; however some newer models are worth much more. For example, a Nokia 6230i is worth £15 to the charity.
You can also recycle your textiles - for more information on your nearest textile bank and how to help the Air Ambulance, visit www.bagitup.org.uk. For further information about the Air Ambulance service, see www.hampshireandiowairambulance.org.uk or call 023 8033 3377.
