Insulate Hampshire Coming Soon

Hampshire County Council logo‘Insulate Hampshire’ is the new area based insulation scheme aiming to save residents money on their energy bills and keep homes warm and comfortable and is coming soon to Hampshire.

The scheme, backed by Hampshire’s county, district, borough and city councils as part of the Hampshire Senate will be launched on the 26 July 2011 when Insulate Hampshire advisors will begin to contact residents.

The scheme is open to everyone and will help protect people against the cold, cut household fuel bills and reduce carbon dioxide emissions as well as create new jobs in Hampshire’s local economy.

With loft insulation at £99 and cavity wall insulation at £75* for the first 5000 suitable homes to sign up to the scheme and £99 thereafter, the scheme is expected to improve 20,000 Hampshire households, enabling Hampshire residents to cut their household bills by £300 a year, saving 1.5 tonnes of CO2.

Some people in certain circumstances will also benefit from completely free home insulation.

Councillor Ken Thornber, Leader of Hampshire County Council and Chairman of the Hampshire Senate, said:

“We have had a number of particularly severe winters recently in Hampshire and energy and fuel costs continue to rise. I think this scheme has the potential to make a real difference to Hampshire’s residents, not only to people’s health and wellbeing but also by keeping household bills down and helping to make every penny count.

“We have been made aware that other insulation contractors are targeting Hampshire residents claiming to be part of the scheme which is untrue. Any household visits before the 26th July will definitely not be from Insulate Hampshire and genuine Hampshire Insulate advisors will always provide a free phone number for residents to call and check advisors are expected in their area.

"Residents will receive both a leaflet and letter from Insulate Hampshire prior to anyone visiting the area and Insulate Hampshire Advisors will all have suitable ID and branded Insulate Hampshire uniforms.”

If you are unsure of the person at your door call Hampshire County Council on 01962  833666 or the police on their non emergency number 0845 045 45 45.
