New to the area?
Here are some local services and community details that can provide you with essential information:
- Village Agent
The Village Agent scheme is run by Age Concern Hampshire and helps older people to find information on a range of topics such as finding help to manage the home, social activities locally or what government help someone may be eligible for.
- At as June 2021 Age Concern Hampshire doesn’t have a Village Agent appointed for Copythorne. Any older people (or their relatives/supporters) needing signposting help and support are asked to call the Age Concern Hampshire Information Service on 0800 328 7154 which is open Monday to Thursday 10.00am and 2.00pm or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org
If you have land or property next to a river, stream or ditch you are a ‘riparian landowner’ with various rights and responsibilities.
For example, you are likely to own up to the centre of any watercourse that runs alongside your boundary.
At the same time, you should take steps to keep the banks clear of anything that could cause an obstruction and increase flood risk, either on your land or downstream.
A very useful guide entitled “Living on the Edge“, published by the Environment Agency is available as a PDF.
The Parish Council has prepared a Flood Plan to help people in the Copythorne area in preparing and responding to a flooding event.
